Sigrid live at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire

Norwegian artist Sigrid is making waves in the UK at the moment, having been voted BBC Sound of 2018 earlier this year. Last week she played a sold-out O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, an utter triumph of a gig. Check out the pictures below, and click on thumbnails for larger version.

Yonaka live at The Garage, London

Theresa Jarvis, The Garage.

Theresa Jarvis, The Garage.

Yonaka, in my opinion, is the future of commercial rock'n roll. They manage to take a genre that has gone a bit stale and are pumping new blood and life into it by seamlessly blending riffs and bass so heavy they'll blow you away, with anything from pop to tribal to hip-hop and RnB. All the while being so utterly catchy they'll make you dance while being flung into the wall at the very back of the venue.

Hailing from Brighton Yonaka is part of the huge wave of bands coming out of the city, marking it even stronger on the musical map of Britain. Their gig at The Garage in London was sold out weeks in advance, these are some shots of the triumphant set they played. Click on picture for larger version.

a-ha live at the O2 Arena, London

Morten Harket

After a bit of a break from concert photography it was great to be back in the pit again, especially for none other than Norwegian heroes a-ha! The fact that the gig was at the massive O2 Arena in London didn't make matters worse, here's a selection of shots from the night. Click on pic for bigger version.

Walk The Moon Live In Oslo, Norway

Walk The Moon's Nicholas Petricca.

Walk The Moon returned to Oslo 3 years after their previous gig at John Dee, and this time they played at slightly bigger Rockefeller! Last time they came to visit I interviewed them (read the interview in Norwegian HERE (try google translate for English version?), but this time there was no time in my schedule for that, so I just went to Rockefeller Music Hall to capture the gig with my camera. Amazing amazing gig, and exactly what we need up North at the end of a long dark and cold winter. Thought I'd share some of the shots I got with you!

As always, click the thumbnails below to see bigger size pictures.

By:Larm 2016 - A Selection Of Pictures

ARY playing Rockefeller during by:Larm 2016.

Last weekend, the massive music and media festival by:Larm (think a Nordic SXSW) happened in Oslo, Norway, and I worked there as a photographer and concert reviewer. Many amazing gigs were seen, some less good were endured, and I thought I'd share some of the shots here with you. The picture at the top of the page is Norwegian artist ARY, one of the most impressive gigs I saw at the entire festival. Watch out for this girl!

Check out the gallery below, and as always, click on the thumbnails beneath for full size.

Hozier, Live At Sentrum Scene In Oslo

Got the chance to shoot Hozier's sold out gig at Sentrum Scene in Oslo a couple of days ago, thought I'd share some of them with you! Check out the gallery and click on the thumbnails below for bigger pictures:

Tame Impala Live At Sentrum Scene

Australian Tame Impala played a sold out concert at Oslo's Sentrum Scene last night, an amazingly colourful gig. I was there to take pictures and review the gig, check out the gallery below! (The review - in Norwegian - can be read here). To see bigger size pictures, click on the thumbnails below the gallery.

Of Monsters And Men Live At Sentrum Scene

Of Monsters and Men played a lovely gig at Sentrum Scene in Oslo a couple of weeks ago, and up until the day before the gig, it seemed no photos or reviews would be seeing the light of day afterwards, since the band had one of the ridiculous photo contracts some bands try and force upon us ("you do the hard work, we own the result"). After all the Norwegian media had given notice of boikott however, the contract magically disappeared, and the band and audience could read about the gig in newspapers and media the next day. Here are the pictures I got, after finally getting a chance to test out my new lense (sigma 50mm f4.1) in low lighting. Click on the pix for bigger versions, and enjoy!
