Alyssa Nilsen is a published Norwegian journalist and photographer.
London based journalist and photographer Alyssa started out as a performing musician. Upon finishing her studies in music at Stange VGS, she formed a booking company with friends, Xiabalba, arranging concerts with big national and international names, and letting local bands fill the support slots. This turned out to be quite the successful formula, and they eventually also took on other arrangements and festival jobs in their home town.
After moving to Oslo in 2006 she worked as Managing Editor, photographer, and music journalist for Musikknyheter.no.
Alyssa has now relocated to London, England where she is a published freelance journalist, stringer, and band photographer. She has also been on the jury of Norwegian music awards Spellemannprisen (similar to the Grammys), for the rock category.
Bands she has interviewed and shot portraits of range from Michael Bublé, Sting & Shaggy, Imagine Dragons, Suede, Royal Blood and My Chemical Romance, to Biffy Clyro, Fleet Foxes, All Time Low and The 1975. Her work has been featured in, among others, Dagsavisen, Scan Magazine (including cover features), The Ocelot and Stache Magazine.
Clients who have purchased and published her pictures includes Magne Furuholmen (A-ha/Apparatjik). Imagine Dragons and Ticketmaster, and her photos can be found on the walls of Oslo venues such as Bushwick.
