Alyssa Nilsen is a published Norwegian photographer and music journalist.

London based journalist and photographer Alyssa started out as a musician, playing a range of instruments including flute, piano and guitar. She studied classical music at Stange VGS, which included music theory (history of music, genres etc), practical subjects such as composing, arranging and conducting, as well as vocal lessons.

Upon finishing her studies, she formed a booking company with friends, Xiabalba, arranging concerts with big national and international names, and letting local bands fill the support slots. This turned out to be quite the successful formula, and they eventually also took on other arrangements and festival jobs in their home town.

After moving to Oslo and studying at Kunst_Design Fagskolen, she has worked as Managing Editor, photographer, and music journalist for Musikknyheter.no.

Alyssa has now relocated to London, England where she continues working with Musikknyheter, as well as being a published freelance journalist and band photographer.

Bands she has interviewed and shot portraits of range from Michael Bublé, Sting & Shaggy, Imagine Dragons, Suede, Royal Blood and My Chemical Romance, to Biffy Clyro, Fleet Foxes, All Time Low and The 1975. Her work has been featured in, among others, Dagsavisen, Scan Magazine (including cover features) and Stache Magazine

Artists who have published her pictures includes Magne Furuholmen (A-ha/Apparatjik) as well as Imagine Dragons, and her photos can be found on the walls of several Oslo venues such as Bushwick.
